Undying

She’s gone, just like ashes that blow in the breeze,
My memories are all that remain;
Swirling, a whirlwind of sadness and pain,
On this blue sky day, hot tears could freeze.

Our time is so fleeting: ephemeral, we rust.
At the outset are sown sorrow’s seeds.
We yearn for a past which wanes and recedes
In the rearview mirror, evanescent, like dust.

Yet the love is undying, untouchable, sure.
I’m alone, but the love has not gone:
A presence, like diamonds, immutable, strong,
That will stay with me always, will always endure.
